Tomorrow marks the first day of Buku Music and Art Project in New Orleans, LA. Premiered in 2012 by Winter Circle Productions, the Buku Music + Art Project has established itself as the premier progressive music and arts festival in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast region. For those tired of the mega-festival and wanting an intimate setting with close stage views and clear/loud audio, BUKU fills that void. The line up this year is pretty dope, check after the jump for artist previews and the schedule.

Obviously there are a lot of people to see in these two days, but there are a lot of overlaps. Here is my breakdown of who I am going to see each day
Friday (3/8/2013)
5:00-5:45pm – Lazy Rich
6:15-7:15pm – Birdy Nam Nam
7:15-8:15pm – Flux Pavillion
7:45-8:45pm – R3hab
9:15-10:30pm – Flying Lotus
10:30-12:00am – Kid Cudi
12:15-1:30am – Zedd
1:30-2:45am – Datsik
Why do you have to see these artists? I think all of these artists are each to make decision on, except for the choice between Sander and Datsik. Personally I favor Datsik, I think he has an extremely unique type of Dubstep and he has a very unique sound. I am a huge fan of his stuff and I love his “transformers robot” type sound that he is known for. Sander is very, very good but I think Datsik would be better at 1:30 in the morning after I see Zedd, I wanna end the night with grime. Plus Datsik just recently released his EP “Cold Blooded” that is absolutely amazing (look it up if you haven’t heard it).
Saturday – 3/9/2013
6:15-7:15pm – Flosstradamus
7:15-8:15pm – Kendrick Lamar
8:15-8:45pm – Big Gigantic
8:45-9:15pm – Trinidad James
10:30-11:15pm – Calvin Harris
11:15-12:00am – Salva
12:00am-1:15am – Major Lazer
1:30-3:00am – Dillon Francis OR Nero
Why do you have to see these artists? All of these artists are amazing and obviously the right choice. I am not a particularly big fan of Calvin Harris live, but he has an open spot and hes decent so why not go? I am really excited for Flosstradamus, Kendrick, and Salva. That brings it down to my 1:30-3:00am spot, I am torn between the two choices. I have seen Dillon Francis a number of times recently and he is amazing every time. I have seen Nero once and it was also really good. I think I really have to go to Nero but I am going to want some more moombahton after I finish hearing Major Lazer, I feel. Either way, you can’t go wrong.
I am really excited for this, it looks like its going to be a great time. Anyone who lives in the area and likes EDM should definitely think about attending this festival for at least a day. Tickets are still on sale, you can pick them up from the official Buku Music and Arts Project website –> www.thebukuproject.com
I’ll be back in a couple of days with the festival review, PLUR.
