Mixtape: “Me & My Headphones (Vol. IX)” by Various Artists

Damn, there’s just too much music for one man to cover. Over the past few days we’ve been hit with some awesome releases and below I’ve highlighted some of the best ones that will carry you through the weekend and into the spring and summer party seasons. I’m pretty proud of the group of songs below and I hope you guys enjoy them.

First off, hit the play button on that YG video with Drake and see what your party should look like heading into the spring season. YG’s My Krazy Life is due out March 18th but stay tuned for a leak. Next, RL Grime and Not So Not have just released this incredible banger called “Tell Me”. I really can’t go through all of these but DO NOT skip over the “Happy” remix by Neus. Really cool what he did to the track. Have a good weekend guys!

Album: “Mastermind” by Rick Ross

Mastermind is Rick Ross’s sixth studio album and quite possibly his best project yet. From dope ass production and a nearly perfect recruitment of features, this album has everything. I was sleeping on a few of the singles like “Devil Is A Lie” and “War Ready” but now that I have the whole album in my hands I really question what I was doing. There’s a great blend of aggressive gangster songs and ‘ryder music’ tunes with smooth instrumentals. The album outlines exactly where The Boss is now and where his talents have taken him. Many people underestimate him but he will without a doubt go down as one of the greats. His reign has moved him into a role model hip hop position and this album proves that with his versatility and his high-ranking features instead of his usually MMG teammates.

The best is when you go to listen to an album and you can’t choose a song because there are so many good ones. I hope you find yourself in the same position with this one. The 16 song LP with 2 bonus tracks is pretty impressive when you listen through it the first time and the top songs right now are “Thug Cry” with Wayne, “Sanctified” with Big Sean & Yeezy, “Supreme”, “Devil Is A Lie”, “War Ready”, and… just all of it. Album doesn’t officially release ’til next week but you know how we do. Pre-Order it now or follow one of our download links. Shoutout to my boss at my job here in Oxford, OH. Every day he says he brushes his teeth to Rick Ross. Brush the shit out of those teeth son.

“You Don’t Know (Gazzo Remix)” by Big Sean ft. Ellie Goulding

gazo-pumpthebeat.com

DJ Gazzo from NJ is back with a new official remix to Big Sean’s song “You Don’t Know” featuring Ellie Goulding. The intro pulls you right in, as does the solid combination of Ellie’s vocals and Big Sean’s rhymes. The drop isn’t my favorite, but overall this is a pretty dope track. If you missed our previous post on his hit remix to Rudimental’s “Free” check it out here, and be sure to take advantage of this free download.

Video: “Ashley” by Big Sean ft. Miguel

When Michael Jackson changed the game of music videos, I like to think that what he started was a trend of making mini movies from music. This video directed by Ellis Bahl features Big Sean and his struggle to escape from his psycho girlfriend and her creepy lover. He manages to escape but things fall apart in the end. If any of you have seen the “Flashing Lights” video for Kanye West’s classic then you can expect some awesomely similar. Miguel provides the hook on the song but isn’t int he actual video. The song is from Big Sean’s Hall Of Fame which turned out to be kind of a flop but I thought it was grew album. Get the song and the album below.

“With Me (Stwo Edit)” by Cashmere Cat

cashmere-cat-with-me-firstup.se

A new up-and-coming artist I found this winter break is DJ/producer Stwo (pronounced “Stew”), and I have been listening to his music on repeat. This 21-year-old Frenchman hasn’t even produced for over 6 months, but he has been attracting a lot of attention since he started. Check out his Soundcloud if this that shit you do like. I included another one of his remix’s for yall too, enjoy.

“10 2 10 Remix” by Big Sean, Rick Ross, & Travi$ Scott

Possibly the most underrated rapper ever will not quit. “10 2 10″ is the work hard anthem so if you think you got  what it takes to be successful in this world, hop out of bed and turn this song on full blast. Big Sean kills his verse again and brings along Rozay and La Flame the Golden Child. Only experienced hip hop listeners only. Boi

Album: “Suffering From Success” by DJ Khaled

Each year DJ Khaled puts together an album filled with superstars of the hip hop and R&B world. Suffering From Success is his next step in the music industry reflecting on the conquest and the heartbreaks of fame. It seems to be a common theme for celebrities these days from Jay Z and JT’s “Holy Grail” and Kanye West’s Yeezus. This album features many members of YMCMB and MMG but Khaled also recruited a lot of other outside artists to increase the value of these songs. While I don’t think this album is all that great, there are a few tracks that did stand out. “Never Surrender” is above all the best. It features some of the greatest R&B artists to ever step foot on this earth. Akon, John Legend, & Anthony Hamilton add verses and the chorus to make this one really hit you down deep. We all know “No New Friends” with Drake, that’s probably the other great track but also check out “You Don’t Want These Problems” produced by Timbaland and “Hells Kitchen” with J. Cole. Album out offically next week but you know how we do. Pump The Beat
