Saying I’m amped for this show would be a severe understatement. Class acts like J. Cole and Big Sean perform side-by-side at a more than adequate venue to house both their acts.
J. Cole’s newest album 2014 Forest Hills Drive is a deep and methodical criticism of the artists own adolescence. With each song he focuses on a different aspect of his struggle through adolescence. He shows the listener first-hand how he was able to fight through his rough childhood to get to where he is today: on stage in front of thousands cheering his name.
The tracklist in the album shows his progression from childhood (“Wet Dreamz” and “January 28th”) to adolescence (“Apparently” and “G.O.M.D.”). J. Cole shows us the struggle of being a child and wanting to grow up. However, he also explores that awkward stage of adolescence where he is expected to act like an adult, but still treated like a child.
Regardless, 2014 Forest Hills Drive evidently has a strong emotional appeal to its artist which bodes well for the live performance on August 6th. If you don’t yet have your tickets, don’t pass up the opportunity to see this legendary performance. Buy those tickets ASAP and I’ll see you there.
